Hunts

Private land hunting in the coveted Missouri River Breaks and Judith Mountains of Central Montana!

ARCHERY
(Elk, Mule Deer, Antelope)
Our Trophy Archery Elk Hunt is the stuff that dreams are made of. Our local guides have spent a lifetime hunting these elk, in the heart of the Missouri Breaks and Judith Mountains of Central Montana. Calling, Spot and Stalk, and Tree Stands are the primary methods used. This hunt is geared toward the serious archer seeking a Pope and Young trophy. With a high bull to cow ratio this resident herd is unique in its makeup, and a large percentage of the bulls you will see will score 300 or better. We advise you should be in good physical condition to really enjoy this hunt. We offer only a limited number of these hunts each year. We truly believe, and our clients agree, that this is one of the top archery elk hunts offered in North America.

(Archery season runs from early September to mid October)

(We can also provide an archery antelope hunt, should this be your interest. There is a guaranteed license for archery antelope that is obtained through the draw.)

RIFLE
(Mule Deer, Whitetail Deer, Antelope, Elk by permit draw, Big Horn Sheep by permit draw, Varmint)
Heavy mass and tall antlers are a trademark of the Mule Deer in Central Montana. Hunting takes place in the coulees and draws of the Breaks, and in the foothills of the Judith Mountains. These monsters can be difficult to find but are well worth the effort. Most of these bucks will be four points or better (western count) and have spreads of 20 to 28 inches (inside measurement), with the occasional 30 inch trophy.

We’re quickly gaining a reputation for our trophy Whitetail Deer. Found hanging on our brushy creek bottoms and in the mountain draws, this is no tree-stand hunt. It has all the excitement of a mule deer hunt, and the quality of our whitetail is getting better every year.

Antelope are plentiful and big in Central Montana. Roaming mostly the sagebrush flats and farmland, they are found scattered throughout our hunting area. Spot and stalk works best in hunting this unique big game animal. This hunt also provides a good mid-day diversion combined with our rifle deer hunt.

Should you be lucky enough to draw a Rifle Elk Permit for our area, we will provide you with an excellent opportunity to take home a trophy bull. These limited permits are highly sought after by residents and non-residents alike because of the number of quality bulls in this area. (General Rifle season runs from late October through November)

Rifle hunting areas are accessed by ATV’s and 4WD vehicles. We do a lot of glassing, and hiking the timbered coulees and ridges to spot the game. How much hiking is entirely up to you – we will do our best to tailor this hunt to fit your requirements. Again, we boast a large hunting area utilizing privately owned land and leases on neighboring ranches.

The Big Horn Sheep are a transplanted species to our area, but have thrived in the rough terrain. There are very few tags given out for the rams each year, but it is an exciting option should you draw one, as the trophy opportunity is great. Our local guides have years of experience hunting and judging these trophy animals, and this is truly a “once in a lifetime hunt.” This season runs from September 15 through the end of November.

OTHER ANIMALS
(Upland Birds, Varmints)
Upland Game Bird hunting is included in the Elk and Deer licenses. We will provide this hunt during your Big Game Hunt at no extra charge. This is an unguided part of your hunt. Game bird species that inhabit Central Montana include Pheasant, Sharptail Grouse, Hungarian Partridge, and Sage Grouse. Pheasant are hunted along the creek bottoms, while the other species are found around the farmground, Conservation Reserve Program acreage, and sagebrush flats. We are experiencing healthy bird populations in all species, so bring your shotgun along and enjoy a change of pace at any time during your big game hunt.

IMG_0864Our Varmint hunting concentrates on Coyotes, although Prairie Dog and Gopher hunting is also available. Our Coyote population right now is extremely high, and we include this varmint hunting in your Big Game Hunt at no extra charge.

MEAT CARE/TAXIDERMY
We will cape your trophy and take your meat to a local processor for you, where they will process it at your expense and ship it to your home. Rush service arrangements can usually be made for an extra fee so that you can take your processed game home with you. There are local taxidermist services available, should you wish to leave your trophy to be mounted and shipped to you.
